Rheumatology Division Chief Description<\/span><\/h2>\n

The Division of Rheumatology in the Department of Medicine at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) School of Medicine is seeking a dynamic leader with strong credentials in clinical medicine and basic, translational or clinical research to serve as the Rheumatology Division Chief<\/u><\/strong>.<\/strong> The successful candidate will embody academic stature, accomplished clinical skills, and leadership and management skills to build and expand all aspects of Rheumatology Medicine at UCI, while advancing the research and educational activities of the program. This is a tenure\/tenure-track, or Clinical of Medicine senate faculty position at the Associate\/Full Professor level. Academic credentials including NIH or other federal grants and prior record of high impact publications are preferred.<\/p>\n

The Division of Rheumatology <\/strong>at UC Irvine\u2019s School of Medicine is committed to providing exceptional care for patients with a broad range of musculoskeletal conditions and rheumatic diseases. Our faculty members are experts in the diagnosis and management of all types of arthritis, including rheumatoid arthritis, spondyloarthritis and crystalline arthritis, as well as such complex connective tissue disorders as systemic lupus, systemic vasculitis, myositis, and scleroderma. These physicians also are involved in clinical trials and research that seek to advance treatment and therapies for these conditions. <\/p>\n

The Position:
\nCandidate Responsibilities:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Rheumatology <\/strong>Division Chief<\/strong> will be expected to deliver patient care in an academic setting, teach medical students, residents, fellows, engage in an independent and extramurally \u2013 funded clinical research program, and provide service to the University. Additionally, the Division Chief will continue to build the clinical activities of the program and bring a strong research component to the division. Candidates with current funding are preferred, but candidates who apply for funding once hired will be considered.<\/p>\n
