Description<\/h2>\n

Essential Duties and Responsibilities<\/b> include the following. Other duties may be assigned.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Performs hospital site visits to assess the efficiency of the HIIM Departments\u2019 operations and to recommend process changes where opportunities for improvement exist. Also performs assessments to determine preparedness for electronic systems implementations.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Provides direction to the health information management functions for -affiliated facilities.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Assists in deploying and providing ongoing support of health information management systems as part of the -affiliated facility\u2019s overall information system plan.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Monitors health information management systems and sets the HIIM Department\u2019s standards for data quality and ethical practice.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Participates in the development of health information management policies and procedures on release of information, confidentiality, information security, information storage and retrieval, and record retention.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Enforces and provides education and training to -affiliated facility employees in areas relevant to health information management policies and procedures.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Supports and facilitates clinical, administrative, and external data use functions.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Monitors and provides information on local, national, and international trends, changes in legislation and accreditation standards that affect the management of health information and healthcare industry.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Serves as an internal consultant on health information management issues including release of information, confidentiality, information security, information storage and retrieval, and record retention, as well as authorship and authentication of health record documentation.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Performs and reports research on topics related to health information management.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Provides orientation and education for HIIM staff at newly acquired facilities or for new HIIM Directors at existing-affiliated facilities.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Functions as the primary contact for division for HIIM Departments in division-specific states.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Provides on-going support and monitoring of the Patient Health Information Improvement Program.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Coordinates with other corporate staff to support -affiliated facilities in a congruent fashion.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Monitors and provides information on regulatory changes to all -affiliated facility HIIM Departments in a timely manner.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Plans, develops and presents educational opportunities on regulatory issues, charging processes, and other HIIM-related areas via teleconference or onsite presentation.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Coordinates -affiliated facility HIIM Department functions with the clinical operations departments within the hospital to ensure efficient and effective processes.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Compiles monthly activity \/ project summaries and reports to division leadership.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Completes other duties, as assigned.<\/p>\n

WORK ENVIRONMENT:<\/b><\/p>\n

Based in Nashville, Tennessee area. Ability to travel approximately 50% of the time. Travel required by both airplane and automobile.<\/p>\n

Qualifications<\/h2>\n

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:<\/b><\/p>\n

\u00b7 Must be RHIA or RHIT.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Valid Driver\u2019s License.<\/p>\n

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:<\/b><\/p>\n

Supervises contract staff as assigned.<\/p>\n

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:<\/b><\/p>\n

\u00b7 Bachelor or associates degree required<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Minimum of five years acute-care management experience in HIM<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Prefer consulting experience<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Experience with small to large hospitals with multi-facility experience desired<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Experience in project management preferred<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Must be knowledgeable of information systems and healthcare applications in addition to database applications and report writing software<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Preferred experience with electronic record systems – McKesson Horizon Patient Folder, transcription systems, Horizon Physician Portal and\/or HMS patient accounting systems or experience with imaging systems and\/or physician portals.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Must possess critical thinking skills<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Must possess the ability to communicate to all levels of the facility including staff, physicians, and the C level administration<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Must possess the ability to communicate to all levels at Corporate including Division<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Staff must possess leadership skills.<\/p>\n
