We are growing and are seeking leaders to advance general and specialty areas in Chief roles. Since 1976, the Department of Psychiatry at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso (TTUHSC EP) Paul L. Foster School of Medicine (PLFSM) has been providing mental health care to improve the lives of those living in the Paso Del Norte (“The Gateway to the North”) region, train the next generation of physicians and psychiatrists, and be a site of innovative research for the 21st century. 

As the largest psychiatry department on the southern U.S. border, the Department of Psychiatry at TTUHSC El Paso is seeking academic psychiatrists to join the active and growing department in El Paso, TX. The Section Chief in General Adult Psychiatry and the Section Chief in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry will contribute to the university’s mission through teaching, research, and service. Academic appointments at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor rank are available and will be dependent on experience/skills/qualifications of the applicant.  

The breadth of treatment and training experiences includes child and adolescent psychiatry, adult psychiatry, mood disorders, neuropsychiatry, Southwest Brain Bank, public psychiatry, inpatient psychiatry, C/L psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry, and psychology.

TTUHSC El Paso is the fastest growing medical school in Texas and one of the area’s major health care providers. Professional Qualifications:

TTUHSC is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute through their research, teaching and/or service to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.

  • M.D. or D.O. degree required.
  • Board certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) or hold credentials deemed equivalent to Certification by the ACGME’s Psychiatry Residency Review Committee.
  • Successful completion of ACGME approved residency program in Psychiatry; Completion of post-doctoral fellowship preferred.
  • Texas state medical license or eligibility for medical licensure in the state of Texas.
  • Regional or emerging national reputation for the rank of Assistant Professor/Associate Professor or higher.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to skill, knowledge, experience, education, and credentials.
