Vice Chair of Clinical Operations Description

The University of Florida College of Medicine (UFCOM) seeks a dynamic and visionary clinician-leader to serve as the Department of Psychiatry Vice Chair of Clinical Operations in Gainesville, FL. Reporting directly to the Chair of the UFCOM Department of Psychiatry, this leadership position is a full-time, tenure track or multi-mission track. This position will be a core part of the growing commitment to clinical excellence, teaching, scholarship, and translational research within the Department of Psychiatry at UF. The Department of Psychiatry at the UFCOM is a leader in the Southeast for innovative, evidence-based treatment programs for a variety of mental health disorders for all ages. In addition, UF’s Mood Disorders Program, spearheaded by the department, is a designated center of excellence by the National Network of Depression Centers (NNDC) and was the first academic medical center in Florida to earn this distinction. Faculty and staff within the department provide broad educational experiences in multifaceted programs while delivering quality care, backed by leading-edge research and exceptional customer service.

Your Role as the Vice Chair of Clinical Operations:
Reporting to the UFCOM Department Chair of Psychiatry, the Vice Chair of Clinical Operations is responsible for the clinical leadership, organization, operation, and the general clinical administration of the UF Department of Psychiatry. The Vice Chair will work closely with the Department Chair and department leadership, including, but not limited to, the Vice Chair for Education, Vice Chair for Research, and the Vice Chair for Strategic Planning and Development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a thriving, multi-site clinical practice.
  • Maximize opportunities for collaboration across UFCOM and the UF Health Care System.
  • Foster an environment of innovation in clinical delivery models aimed at increasing access to care and providing state-of-the-art treatment.
  • Recruit, support, and develop new generations of leaders.
  • Expand relationship with surrounding Health Care Community Services.
  • Oversight of clinical services in psychiatric facilities. 
  • Provide inpatient and outpatient services at both UF Health Shands Psychiatry Hospital and at UF Health at Springhill.

Salary and academic rank for this position will be commensurate with the applicant’s experience and academic background.

How Do You Qualify?:
Education/Certifications/Licensure

  • MD or DO degree
  • Current Board Certification in Psychiatry (ABPN certified).
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited psychiatric residency training program.
  • Unrestricted State of Florida Medical License (current or eligible).

Professional Qualifications/Experience

  • Experience as core faculty member in an ACGME-accredited Psychiatry Residency Program.
  • Demonstrated psychiatric leadership in teaching, administration, and clinical excellence; experience in collaborative care preferred.
  • Demonstrated teaching interest in an academic medical center.
