Pediatric Residency Program Director Opportunity in South Florida Near Palm Beach

To continue growing our UME and GME footprint, HCA East Florida GME Division is seeking an experienced and dynamic physician leader to head the ACGME-accredited Pediatric residency program [6 residents per year, 18 total] at HCA Florida Palms West Hospital as Program Director.

Pediatric GME Program Highlights:

  • Pediatric Protected Time: [6 residents per year, 18 residents total] 0.4 FTE Administration and GME leadership of the program and 0.6 FTE Clinical with potential for addl.; FTE related to Pediatric UME [Chair or Clerkship Director] with Nova MD or other affiliated Medical School; the position will be supported by one or two APD’s and a total of 1 FTE Pediatric Liaison Core Faculty. Eligibility for affiliate academic appointment.
  • The Pediatric GME Program is based in a 204-bed community hospital in South Florida with 47 inpatient pediatric and pediatric intensive care beds.
  • Curriculum includes MedStudy Board Review materials, Lectures from faculty on AAP topics, Inpatient Rotations — inpatient care, critical care including NICU & PICU, Continuity Clinic, Ambulatory general pediatrics — PGY1 and PGY3, Subspecialty Rotations.

Your Qualifications for the Position:

The Pediatric Residency Program Director must be a BC/BE pediatric hospitalist or intensivist, but other specialization will be considered. The Program Director will be eligible for an affiliate academic appointment. The Program Director will be part of the overall GME leadership within the HCA Healthcare East Florida Division and will collaborate with other Program Directors, GME Directors, Hospital Leadership, and a variety of other stakeholders to assure the highest quality of education and the program.

This role gives the Program Director the opportunity to practice in his/her desired specialty at the primary and/or affiliated sites, under employment by HCA or one of its area specialty partners, as well as opportunities to engage in collaborative research and scholarship. Mid-level support available.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Terminal Medical Degree (M.D. or D.O.)
  • Board Certification by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) or American Osteopathic Board of Pediatrics (AOBP), or hold credentials deemed equivalent to Certification by the ACGME’s Pediatric RRC
  • At least three (3) years of educational and/or GME administrative experience post residency
  • Demonstrated clinical competence as a practicing physician
  • Unrestricted credentials within HCA Florida and be licensed or eligible to practice medicine by the state of Florida.
