Spring is Here! Top 6 Tips to Beat the Stuck-Inside Working Blues

Get to work early, instead of working late

Sun light tells your brain it’s time to wake up. During spring, the sun begins to rise earlier and so should you. Getting sunlight exposure in the morning, and decreasing your workload earlier in the day, can even help you get better sleep!

If you have a heavy work load, waking up and getting to work earlier will help ensure you won’t have to stay late. It may take a little time to adjust, but by getting an early start on the day, you are able to get more done when your brain is functioning at its best.

Get outside and absorb those rays of health and happiness!

It’s important to work small breaks into your day, especially when the weather is nice. It can be tempting to use your free time for social media, or to knock out a personal task, but really getting outside in the sun is the best way to rejuvenate.

Sunlight provides Vitamin D. Vitamin D has shown to have a wide array of health benefits. Some benefits of sunlight (and Vitamin D) are stronger bones, improved mood, it can boost your immunity to disease and illness, and can even help you loose a few pounds!

Even if you only have a few minutes, find time to get outside, take a short walk, or find a sunny place to sit down. The fresh air and sun light will help you power through the rest of you work day with a good attitude and rejuvenated sense of well being.

Exercise and eat healthy

Because of all the readily-available fresh fruit and vegetables, eating healthier in the spring (and summer) is much easier. When you are nourished with clean/healthy foods, your body and brain function better. Plus, having a few fresh snacks on hand can make the work day much more enjoyable.

Do some spring cleaning, or change up your work space

Change can have a powerful affect on your productivity. Even small additions to your decor, or some de-cluttering can help you feel like you are in a fresh new place. Multiple studies have shown that clutter hinders productivity.

You don’t have to do anything too crazy, maybe just replace the photo of your family, clean out your desk, or hang some new artwork. It might also be helpful to simply reorganize your daily schedule. If you’re used to doing one thing in the morning, try moving it to the afternoon.

Don’t neglect your personal goals and hobbies

You probably spend a lot of time working for the advancement of someone else’s ambition. Take your time out of work to do something satisfying and rewarding for yourself.

Plant a garden, take up running, or break into the world of adult coloring books. Whatever you choose to do, take advantage of the warmer weather and longer days! You will improve your level of happiness and sense of accomplishment.

Work hard, play hard

Some days are going to drag. The weather is nice and you want to be out enjoying it. Remind yourself that the best way to enjoy your time off is to be really great at your job. If you are great at your job you can leave the office with a sense of accomplishment and the means to go do what ever makes you happy.
