Get Technical Soon!

technologyTechnology is here to stay.  Every company, corporation, and business depends on it for efficiency and profit.  According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, computer systems analyst jobs are projected to grow 22 percent over the next seven years — a faster-than-average growth over all occupations. Systems analysts have become a major asset to companies that utilize computers.  For systems analysts in the Dallas metropolitan area, the news is especially good. Dallas’ employment in this occupation is ranked fifth highest in the nation and average salaries are around $84K. If you want stability choose something in the IT field.  It is not going away and predicted to grow exponentially in the years ahead.

Where do you start if you want to go in the IT direction?  A degree in management information systems provides an opportunity to explore different functional areas of IT. The good news for those who choose the IT field – it is vital to the success of a company.  The field is always searching for talented people.  Currently, there are not nearly enough in the profession to fulfill the many needs of many companies and businesses.

The idea that IT is autonomous of business is pure myth. Upper management recognizes that technology is not just integral to success, but actually drives the way companies pursue their business goals. To help merge technology and business processes, a new breed of enterprise architect — known as the business architect — is emerging. Business architecture is about making sure the whole business holds together, the IT role is built around business planning, pointing out opportunities to utilize IT more effectively. Unlike the traditional enterprise architect, whose role is to organize technology to meet business goals, the business architect is a member of the business organization, reporting to the CEO and fashioning high-level company strategy with technology in mind. The successful business architect has a deeper knowledge of the company’s business model and workflow than the average enterprise architect.

There is a surge of information generated by Web click streams, system logs, and other event-driven activities.  This has created a huge need.  That is where a data scientist comes in handy.  Data scientists can open up new opportunities by uncovering hidden patterns in unstructured data, such as customer behavior or market cycles.  A data scientist can use deep data trends to optimize websites for better customer retention. Within the IT department, a skilled data scientist can spot potential storage cluster failures early or track down security threats through forensic analysis.

One of the most rewarding aspects of working in the IT field is feeling absolutely vital to the success of a company. If you can swing it, supplemental training and experience can pay off.  There is no time like now to consider an IT profession.   Surges in IT hiring like this one do not happen every day.
